From The Deputy
With Jess Batey

For the final newsletter of the year, I’d like to give my thanks to the entire Toolooa school community for their efforts this year. As always, when you take time to look back over an entire year, it’s quite amazing to see just how much we have all accomplished! Some of the standouts for me this year include:

*The Arts Showcase – we have such incredible talent within our school, but the most impressive part for me was the confidence and bravery shown by our students up on stage

*Peter Doherty STEM Awards – Mr Capill, our Junior Secondary Head of Department being one of only five teachers across the entire state being presented with a Peter Doherty Excellence in STEM Teaching Award (very well deserved!)

*First Lego League – one of our FLL teams doing us proud in Brisbane, attending and competing in the National Championships this term

*Extended Transition – two full groups of Year 6 students attending the extended transition with Mr Roby and Mrs Cook this term, engaging so enthusiastically!

*Damien Kee visit – a selection of our Indigenous students, as well as those who are in STEM Squad or TES, participated in incredible tech sessions run by Dr Damien Kee this year, leading to a planned expansion of the Toolooa STEM Squad in 2022.

*Virtual Reality – the purchase of a class set of VR glasses has been a game-changer for some of our teachers and students. Keep an eye out for more in this space next year!

And, how could anyone forget… the successful introduction of Archie the Wellbeing Dog to our school! Archie has been unbelievably successful in our school, bringing joy to us each and every day. Thanks to Mr Clark for bringing him into our lives.

Overall, despite challenges, we have had another tremendous year. 2022 is set to be a big one, and I’m really excited about tackling it with such a supportive community.

I wish you all the very best over the summer holiday period.  How ever you are spending your time, I hope that you all stay safe and have a chance to relax.

Please stay tuned to our Facebook page for updates on office and uniform shop opening hours, as well as other important updates towards the end of the break.
